Pet Identification

A microchip, collar and ID tag can help bring your pet home safely if he or she is lost. A microchip is a tiny computer chip about the size of a grain of rice that can be injected under the skin of a dog or cat. The chip has a unique number that can be detected by the scanners routinely used by humane societies, animal control organizations and veterinarians. We use the Home Again pet microchip system. Please ask a staff member for details about microchipping your pet.

In-House Pharmacy

As the prescribing veterinarian for your pet's medications, we are able to ensure there is a direct link between the exam room and the pharmacy. This means your pet will receive the right medication, at the right dose, in the right form as quickly as possible. We will also be able to easily guide you on the medication's use as well as monitor its effectiveness. You can also feel confident that all the medications we dispense were obtained from safe, reliable sources and stored under the proper conditions.

We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. If your pet requires a prescription diet we do not carry, we can easily order it for you. Ensuring that you have convenient and timely access to competitively-priced medications is an important aspect of the hospital's practice.

Refills are easy, too. Simply give us a call at (641) 472-2455, or visit the refill page.

End-of-Life Services

Thinking about your pet's final days is difficult and emotional. A pet plays a significant role in a family. It is the strong bond between pet owner and pet, born from years of loyal companionship, that makes this time particularly hard to bear.

We encourage you to talk with your veterinary healthcare team about these issues before they become an urgent matter. Find out about your options, including crematory and burial services, make some key decisions ahead of time, and ask us to add this information to your pet's record. Taking the time to plan, as challenging as it may be, will lessen the pain and stress for you and your pet.

Each animal-care team member at The Veterinary Clinic, P.C. will do their best to help you prepare for these important issues with the compassion and sensitivity they require.

We offer at-home euthanasia on a case-by-case basis. Please speak with the hospital staff for information about cremation services.
